Quin went hunting with his dad this weekend, and he shot his first deer. They brought it home (to his parent's house) and skinned it! It hung in the garage all weekend and then a friend came over and taught them how to butcher it. Now we have tons of steaks and they're going to take the rest to be processed (deer salami, jerky, ground, etc.). But Ellen and I won't eat it, so maybe we'll be giving deer meat away for our Christmas gift to friends this year (lucky you).
Kari: the vegetarian in me cried for Bambi that night (not kidding). But now the food storagian in me wishes I could stomach wild game. I wish they could hunt cows and chickens - now that would be a great use of meat!!

way to go quin! i'm simultaneously impressed and sort of sicked out.
Ah, memories of growing up. My dad also comes from this same line of manliness, although often he would find deer on the side of the road (aka road kill) and bring them home to butcher in our garage.
My favorite story is the time my brother walked straight into the deer while trying to get into the car one early morning before Seminary. Somehow that story never gets old.
